The name "Aries" is derived from our school mascot, the Ram. It also indicates the month of the zodiac in which the journal is produced in April.

Our mission is to celebrate North Carolinian writers and artists, to encourage student craft in the the fine arts, and to engage the public in the meaningful and rich heritage of art in Columbus County, NC.

 CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Aries accepts electronic submissions from North Carolina residents and natives year round.  Submit your:

Poetry (3-5)

One Act Plays (up to 3)

Short Stories (up to 3)   

Creative Nonfiction (up to 3)

Essays (3-5)

Black and White Art in all Mediums (5)   

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

Email submissions only. Use Microsoft Word for literature. Use JPG format for art. Use a professional quality photograph for three-dimensional art. Include name, address, phone number and email.  All rights revert to authors. Previously published material is acceptable.

Published writers will receive two free copies. Artists and writers who appear in Aries are invited to read and comment on their work at the reception each year.

ROYCE RAY POETRY AWARD

All poetry submitted will be considered for the Royce Ray Poetry Award: a prize in the amount of $100, a reception for the writer, and an announcement in the journal.
